When deciding to have professional photographs done, it can be difficult to know which service to choose. Below are a few things you may be thinking, please contact me if there are any others you may have.
If youre booking a child or baby portrait sitting, its best to bring two or three changes of clothes, bring colours are best, jeans and a tee shirt is also another common idea. Also if the children are quite young, favouriate toys are another good idea.
If its a family sitting, a smart and a casual change are a good idea to give you a good range of photographs styles to choose from.
Usually a portrait sitting lasts an hour, if its a large family group this can take a while longer.
The sitting fee is charged for a number of reasons, mainly as ive a large studio with overheads, a house to run, kids to feed etc, also my years of studing and developing the skills needed to create great photographs.
Most of my photography is taken at Imagery Studio. In 2006 i opened Imagery Studio, which is on the Staffardstown Road, Randalstown. Since its opening Imagery Studio has grown into the most creative studio in Ireland and not only is it used for my photography business, but is now considered the leading photography resource in Ireland, with classes & workshops regularly held, visits from collages, camera clubs and visiting photographers from across Ireland and the UK.
I also work on location for weddings, commercial photography & community photography.
Yes, as there are no regularity body in the UK to decide who is and who isnt a professional photographer, in fact anyone can lift a camera and call themselves a photographer, some even call themselves professional.
It is difficult for the general public to know who is a professional photographer. Some of the thing to help decide would be is photography their full time job,
do they have a studio, though if your looking for a wedding to be photographed most wedding photographs dont have studio's.
Do they have a website, with a good varity of family photography.
There are a number of association's where people with an interest in photography and a camera can join, like SWPP or PPANI, often photographers join these to look professional, but sadly these association accept anyone with a little experience as members, no real skill or job as a photographer is needed to join, just 12 to 14 photographs and a registration fee.
Things to look out for:
Always go to a full time professional photographer for great photography.
Dont use a photography service who doesnt list its prices on its website, unless you dont care how much your going to be charged.
You get what you pay for...if its all Free, think how can they run the business, whats the catch.
If your looking a family or child photographer, they must have their own studio, not work in the isle of a shopping centre, or the back of someone elses shop, or just go to your home, these are amatures.
